Subject: Open Letter To My Congresswoman

Dear Representative Brown-Waite,

Now that Health Care Reform is the Law of the Land the Republican National Commitee and a number of your fellow Republicans have pledged to repeal Health Care Reform. My question to you is simple; do you also support the position taken by the RNC? If so, with a simple yes or no to each, please let us your contistuents know which of the following 18 items that take effect in 2010 you would support repealing:

1.Health Insurers cannot deny children health insurance because of pre-existing conditions. A ban on the discrimination in adults will take effect in 2014

2.Businesses with fewer than 50 employees will get tax credits covering up to 50% of employee premiums.

3.Seniors will get a rebate to fill the so-called "donut hole" in Medicare drug coverage, which severely limits prescription medication coverage expenditures over $2,700. As of next year, 50 percent of the donut hole will be filled.

4.The cut-off age for young adults to continue to be covered by their parents' health insurance rises to the age 27.

5.Lifetime caps on the amount of insurance an individual can have will be banned. Annual caps will be limited, and banned in 2014.

6.A temporary high-risk pool will be set up to cover adults with pre-existing conditions who currently are refused insurance coverage. Health care exchanges will eliminate the program in 2014.

7.New plans must cover checkups and other preventative care without co-pays. All plans will be affected by 2018

8.Insurance companies can no longer cut someone when he or she gets sick.

9.Insurers must now reveal how much money is spent on overhead.

10.Any new plan must now implement an appeals process for coverage determinations and claims.

11.Indoor tanning taxc this tax will impose a ten percent tax on indoor tanning services. This tax, which replaced the proposed tax on cosmetic surgery, would be effective for services on or after July 1, 2010.

12.New screening procedures will be implemented to help eliminate health insurance fraud and waste.

13.Medicare payment protections will be extended to small rural hospitals and other health care facilities that have a small number of Medicare patients.

14.Non-profit Blue Cross organizations will be required to maintain a medical loss ratio -- money spent on procedures over money incoming -- of 85 percent or higher to take advantage of IRS tax benefits.

15.Chain restaurants will be required to provide a "nutrient content disclosure statement" alongside their items. Expect to see calories listed both on in-store and drive-through menus of fast-food restaurants sometime soon.

16.The bill establishes a temporary program for companies that provide early retiree health benefits for those ages 55]64 in order to help reduce the often-expensive cost of that coverage.

17.New plans must cover checkups and other preventative care without co-pays. All plans will be affected by 2018

18.A two year temporary credit (up to a maximum of $1 billion) is in the bill to encourage investment in new therapies for the prevention and treatment of diseases

I have a 9 1/2 year old, cannot understand how a trained professional police officer would need to taz a 10 year old......

OZARK, Ark. -- Ozark police said they were called to a home where a mother asked for help with her unruly child, but the 10-year-old's father said he's outraged at the force police used against his daughter. "I would like to say Ozark police Tased this little girl right here. Ten years old and [they] shot electricity through her body, and I want to know how the heck in God's green earth can they get away with this," said the girl's father, Anthony Medlock. Medlock said his daughter was at her mother's house when Ozark police Officer Dustin Bradshaw shocked her in the back with a Taser and arrested her. "If you can't pick the kid up and take her to your car, handcuff her, then I don't think you need to be an officer," Medlock said. Medlock said his daughter does show signs of having emotional issues, but she "doesn't deserve to be treated like a dog. She's not a tiger." According to a police report, the officer was called to the home by the mother and witnessed the child kicking and screaming. The officer's statement said the girl's mother, Kelly Hamlert, told him to use a Taser on her if he needed to. The officer did shock the girl after he said she kicked him in the groin. "He had no other choice. He had to get the child under control," said Ozark police Chief Jim Noggle. Noggle said the officer shocked the girl for about a second. Ozark police said it is their policy to use a Taser on someone who is a threat to others, no matter their age.

There Are Heroes Out There , Here's One!

As often as I rip on cops for doing stupid things(mostly involving the use tasers), I owe it to all the incredibly talented, hard working cops out there to point out the heroes when they step up!

The police officer who ended the Fort Hood massacre by shooting the suspect is known as the enforcer on her street, a "tough woman" who patrolled her neighborhood and once stopped burglars at her house.

"If you come in, I'm going to shoot," Kimberly Munley told the would-be intruders last year.

It was Munley who arrived quickly Thursday at the scene of the worst massacre at an Army base in U.S. history, where 13 people were killed. She confronted the alleged gunman, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, and shot him four times. Munley was wounded in the exchange.

That's just like her, friends and family say.

"I just felt more protected knowing she was on my street," neighbor Erin Houston said.

Munley, the mother of a 3-year-old girl, lives on a street where a lot of homes are vacant because so many residents are deployed at war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"We sleep a lot safer knowing she's on the block," said Sgt. William Barbrow, another neighbor.

When Bryan Munley heard that his sister-in-law thwarted the alleged gunman in a shootout, he wasn't surprised.

"There's nothing that stands in her way. It completely makes sense that she did what she did," he said from Downingtown, Pennsylvania. "It was amazing. Without her, there would have been a lot more people killed."

4 Teens Ticketed After Rapping Order at McDonalds

AMERICAN FORK, Utah — A rap by four teenagers at a McDonald's has gotten them a bad rap in one Utah city.

The teens were cited by American Fork police earlier this week for disorderly conduct after they rapped their order at a McDonald's drive-through.

The teens said they were imitating a popular video on YouTube. They rapped their order, which begins with, "I need a double cheeseburger and hold the lettuce ..." once quickly before repeating it more slowly.

Spenser Dauwalder said employees at the restaurant told him and his friends they were holding up the line and needed to order or leave.

The 18-year-old said nobody was in line. He and his three 17-year-old friends left without buying anything.

American Fork Police Sgt. Gregg Ludlow says a manager wrote down the car's license plate number and called police. The teens were later cited by officers at a high school parking lot outside a volleyball match.

"We thought, you know, just teenagers out having fun," Dauwalder told KSL Newsradio. "We didn't think it would escalate to that."

Disorderly conduct citations are issued when someone does something to cause annoyance or alarm, Ludlow said. The citation is an infraction similar to a speeding ticket, Ludlow said.

"It was not just that they were rapping, they continued to hold things up," Ludlow said.

Ludlow said the teens were asked several times to speak plainly and that ultimately the manager came outside.

The owner-operator of the American Fork McDonald's said in a statement that the issue was about employees' safety.

"The employee in question felt that her safety was at risk as a result of the alleged actions of these individuals in the drive-thru, not as a result of them rapping their order," franchisee Conny Kramer said in the statement. "As such, she contacted the local authorities."

But Sharon Dauwalder, Spenser's mother, said they will fight it nonetheless.

"We have to," she told The Associated Press on Thursday. "The citation is there."

This is the only video of what actually happened at the event this afternoon. The news only showed the woman being escorted away by the police. What happened was the women walked in with signs, the crowd booed and yelled at the women. The women rolled up their posters and put them down. A photographer/reporter approached the woman on the end and wanted to see what the poster was. As the woman went to show the photographer/reporter what the poster was, a man from the bleachers stood up and snatched the poster from the woman and photographer/reporter. As the woman went to retrieve her poster the police stepped in and escorted the woman and the man from the building.

The poster was not of Obama, it was not pro health care, the poster that was taken from the woman and wrinkled up into a ball was of Rosa Parks.

National news coverage only showed the woman being escorted from the forum and left out the fact that it was the man who started the incident. Not to mention it was a poster of Rosa Parks.

Republican, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, had indeed moved to support the
Birthers, as liberal blog Think Progress reported that she blocked the bill.This
time, though, Bachmann was being criticized unfairly. She did indeed block a
vote on the resolution, noting the absence of a quorum, but that move wasn't
about Abercrombie's resolution specifically. She was just playing her part. The
House had already decided to postpone the votes on all of the resolutions being
considered under a suspension of the rules until Monday evening. Bachmann noted
the absence of a quorum for several other non-controversial pieces of
legislation so that those votes, too, could be postponed until the scheduled
time.In fact, as a spokeswoman for Bachmann told Salon -- and C-SPAN video of
the congresswoman's remarks on the House floor confirmed -- Bachmann supports
the resolution.After the postponement, on Monday evening the resolution passed
-- unanimously. Bachmann was one of the "yea" votes.

Texas cop Tasers great-grandmother
A traffic stop for speeding in a construction zone led to the tasering of a 72-year old great-grandmother by a Texas deputy. Kathryn Winkfein, 72, of Granite Schoals, Texas was then handcuffed, and taken away to jail for resisting arrest and detention.

The deputy said that when he asked Winkfein to sign the speeding ticket he issued, she refused, used profane language and became violent, at which point he tased her.

The great-grandmother admits to speeding, but denies the rest of the deputy's allegations, and has hired an attorney to represent her, she tells a Fox News reporter.

Regardless, it's difficult to fathom how a speeding ticket evolved to the point where a trained law enforcement officer felt the need to jolt an elderly woman with a taser.

Super Cooper! - BELLY FLOP

I must apologize, I have been grossly negligent in updating Cooper's blog, and it has not been for lack of material, it has been quite an adventure these past 4 months. Cooper is really a big baby who just has no clue how big he is, and he is definitely in those teenage trouble years.

He has found his way under the fence several times into the yard next door, fortunately he is not a runner and comes immediately when called. More landscaping ties will be going in soon!!! My only concern is doing just that side of the yard and will he then move his escapes to the back fence which leads to the pond..yuck....so we will do it all at once. He is very attached to our Daughter Molly and her best friend Kersten, must be wherever they are whenever possible.

As you can see from the picture above Cooper is enjoying the pool. He is doing great, he clearly had never swam before, he fell in the first time we went to swim before I could lead him in and I watched him sink to the bottom, for a moment I thought I would have to rescue me a Chessie, but he suddenly popped to the surface and started dog paddling..it was a pretty ugly stroke. He made his way to me at the stairs, 5 minutes of sweet talking him, he final let me lead him into the pool and he was off. He swam so much the first two days he sprained his tail, we learned it has a number of names, dead tail, cold-water tail, limber tail etc....good news, he was fine in a couple days and now is in puppy ecstasy when swimming and belly flopping and the stroke has definitely improved.

Cooper's other favorite past time is playing fetch, he loves to chase those tennis balls!!

During an interview with PajamasTV today, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) falsely claimed that the last swine flu outbreak occurred under "another Democrat President, Jimmy Carter." Bachmann, however, insisted she was not trying to blame either man for the outbreaks:

BACHMANN: I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under Democrat President Jimmy Carter. And I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it is an interesting coincidence.

The only problem is that the last U.S. outbreak of swine flu did not begin under Carter. Rather, it began in February of 1976, when Republican Gerald Ford was president.
